Black Friday

I can't imagine getting up at 3 or 4 in the morning to go to Walmart or Target to fight the crowds for whatever gadget is the latest rage. I was still asleep at the time.

Holidays take on a whole new meaning when you have a member of your family in the military.  The best present is just being able to give them a hug and say I love you to them in person.  Nothing better in the whole wide world and you can't buy that on any Walmart shelf!

I watched the news last night in disbelief as I saw people fighting (yes, fighting) over some item.   My first thought was that on December 26 that item will be returned.  My second thought was that was probably put on their credit card because they probably couldn't afford it.   I can't help but think have we forgotten the true meaning of Christmas?

Since my son joined the Navy, the holidays have taken on a whole new meaning for me.  Ask any military family what they want for Christmas and you will get the same answer - they want their child home.  Some will get their wish, many won't.
